Not Just A Hobby Anymore

The Salt and Pepper Shaker Museum features shakers from the 1500s, 1800s, 1920s, 1940s, 1960s all the way to the present. This impressive collection began as a hobby for Andrea and Rolf Ludden, the owners of the museum. As an archeologist, Andrea became fascinated with the history of salt and pepper shakers around the world. After collecting and categorizing thousands of shakers, Andrea’s husband Rolf insisted that she do something with the boxes of shakers that were overtaking their home. In 2001, the Luddens moved from Central Texas to Gatlinburg in order to start the first salt and pepper shaker museum on the planet.
