The Great Smoky Mountain Wheel is The Island’s signature attraction. Standing at 200 feet tall, this towering Ferris wheel offers breathtaking views of Pigeon Forge and the mountains. Whether you’re on a romantic retreat with your sweetheart or a vacation with the whole family, you’ll love seeing the sights from one of the Great Smoky Mountain Wheel’s climate controlled all-glass gondolas. For a memorable experience, we recommend riding the wheel in the evening, when the Great Smoky Mountain Wheel is illuminated with colorful lights.
Visiting Alcatraz East is another one of the best things to do at The Island in Pigeon Forge. This unique crime museum is full of historic artifacts and interactive exhibits that your whole family is sure to love. Highlights of the museum include a re-created CSI lab, a jewel heist challenge, Bonnie and Clyde’s getaway car, Al Pacino’s submachine gun from the movie Scarface, and O.J. Simpson’s Ford Bronco.
Making moonshine was once an illicit activity in the Smoky Mountains, but today it’s totally legal and has become one of the area’s fastest growing industries. When you stop by The Ole Smoky Moonshine Barn at The Island, you can sample some authentic white lightnin’ for a $5 tasting fee (which is applied to any purchase you make in the store). In addition to its great moonshine, The Ole Smoky Barn is also known for its free live bluegrass music and special concerts from big name country artists.
The Escape Game at The Island is like a live action video game! Participants are “locked” in a room and must escape in 60 minutes or less by solving a series of puzzles and completing challenges. The Escape Game offers a number of different themed adventures, including a Prison Break, Art Heist, Expedition to Mars, and a Covert Anti-Terror Mission.
