Burgers on the grill for family cookoutEveryone wants to plan a Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge cabin cookout for at least one evening of their Smoky Mountain vacation! To save money on your cookout, make sure you pack these items for your trip, rather than buy them when you arrive in the Smokies! This way, you will have more money to spend when you visit area attractions like Dollywood or Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies.

1. Basic Tools

When you are planning a cabin cookout, you will want to make sure you pack up any basic grilling tools. Tools can be expensive, so you don’t want to have to buy them when you arrive. If you only plan on grilling for a night or two, it won’t require too much charcoal. Instead of spending the money on a large bag that you’ll have to take home later, pack the amount you will need! Many people forget matches or lighter fluid, too. Make sure you have these little items to make your Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge cabin cookout a success!

2. Aluminum Foil

Aluminum foil is often forgotten in the chaos of packing for a family vacation. You won’t need too much aluminum foil, so just pack up whatever amount you have at home. Aluminum foil can be used to wrap up items for grilling, or create a small grill pan for cooking up delicious treats!

3. Mealtime Needs

Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge cabin rentals come with fully equipped kitchen areas. When you are eating outside, though, it is helpful to have paper plates. If you want to save money, you can use the silverware from the cabin and do a few dishes after! If you have plastic silverware at home, it may be a great idea to pack it up and take it with you. It won’t take up much space in the car and it can be a handy item for all of your in-cabin meals!

4. Seasonings

When you choose to enjoy a cabin cookout, you want to make sure your meal is tasty! Basic, dry-rub, seasonings can cost a few extra dollars, so save your money by bringing some from your cabinet at home. A few dollars doesn’t seem like much, but it is a few extra dollars to save for an activity for the family.

5. Menu Items

You will probably have to make a trip to the store if you are planning on cooking any meats or deli items. You don’t want things that will spoil in the vehicle while you are heading to the Smokies. There are a few things you can purchase ahead of time and pack, though. Any items like bags of potato chips or canned goods, like baked beans, are perfect for your cabin cookout. These things can be brought from home, so you don’t have to spend the money at a grocery store!
